5 Tips to Get Fit and Healthy

19:06:00

Hey everyone!

As it's nearing summer, I know most girls are trying to get in shape to fit better into their bikinis. I'm going to be honest here, and say that I feel the pressure too. The pressure to look good, slim and healthy is immense, but health is about more than that.

Health is about feeling happy and healthy, not about how you look. It's about what you put into your body, and how you feel within yourself. Nevertheless, I know me at least, and most people, feel better when I've been eating healthy and moving around, so I thought I'd share some of my personal tips to health with all of you.

The first tip you've probably heard a million times, but I can't stress this enough. Drinking water cleanses your system, as well as fills you up so you don't feel as hungry most of the time. It's good for you and your body, and my biggest tip to help you drink as much water as possible is to carry a waterbottle everywhere. I never used to bring a water bottle to school or anywhere else, but now that I do, I find myself sipping on it during class when I'm bored, or similar. I also drink a lot of water in the morning, because my bottle is right there by my bed and I'm usually so thirsty when I wake up. This actually helps boost your metabolism too, which is always good.

Getting fit and healthy isn't an all or nothing thing. I used to think it was, and I've struggled a lot with it, but recently, I've been able to see it more as a spectrum. I know that I can have that slice of cake without gaining weight, and I also don't have to eat until I'm nauseous on my 'cheat' meals (which is something I've cut out, but more on that another time). This counts for exercise too. If you can't fit in an hour's workout, it's still better to do some squats in your room than cut it out completely.

Eating healthy is hard for everyone, but I know I personally struggle with bored eating after dinner. The biggest tip I can give to anyo
ne trying to improve their diet slightly is to make sure you get in a healthy breakfast. It's the easiest meal to eat healthy (at least in my opinion), and it just sets your day in a good mood. Oatmeal is my personal favourite, and I have it every single day without fail, but I also enjoy smoothies and such.

As mentioned above, my challenge is just eating while I'm bored or as a form of procrastinating before doing homework. I've found that the best way to prevent this is to brush my teeth after tea and dinner. When the taste of peppermint is fresh in my mouth, I don't feel the need to eat anything. This is of course only after I've had a meal and I'm only eating out of boredom, and I obviously allow myself to eat until I'm full, and please make sure you do too!

If you do wish to get a workout in, my biggest tip to make sure you've planned it. Otherwise, most of my afternoon is just spent procrastinating, and I most likely won't end up doing it because I don't know what I should be doing. However, if I've already made up my mind on what workout I should do and when, it's a lot harder for me to cancel, and I'm way more likely to complete it.

Those are all the tips I have for you, but please keep in mind that I don't know any more about this stuff than the average interested teenager, so take my advice with a grain of salt. I hope some of this was of help to you, and please let me know if you want any more health/fitness posts, because I love writing them!

Fashion Wants and Inspiration

17:56:00

Although I don't consider myself good at styling clothes, I love fashion. I love putting clothes together, but as I'm a teenager, I don't have a ton of money. I'm also unable to shop online, so basically, my wardrobe consists of mainly clothes from New Look and Primark.

I still like looking through online shops though, which may be a bit strange. Last night while I was very tired, I decided it would be fun to bookmark some items that I'd buy if I had the money, and I figured some of you might be interested.

All photos are links that lead to the product

This is my very favourite colour, and I also really like the casual shape of this dress, although I'd usually choose something more formfitting. Something about this dress drew me in!

I'm not a big fan of denim shorts, because I always feel like they get too tight and my legs end up looking like overstuffed sausages once I sit down, but these look comfortable and also super cute.

Cute sportsbras are my life, because as long as they're caged or have something special about them, it's definitely acceptable to wear them under graphic t-shirts for an every day look.
Again with the colour - gorgeous!

I also really like jumpsuit, because I find them to be very casual and easy to wear, and I love this one because it has special details in the back, which I always love. I do find it a bit difficult to wear stuff like this though, as I'll have to wear a backless bra with it.

This is the type of outfit that you'll either love or hate, and I'm obviously the latter. I love the cute dinosaurs and bright colours, but I have no idea where I'd wear this.

This is my very favourite colour, and I also really like the shape of this dress, so of course this drew my attention.

I feel like this would be very cute for going on runs, but also just for casual days over the aforementioned sportsbra.

You might not have me pinned as a ripped jeans girl, but believe me, I am!

I also really like graphic tees, but I'm super picky with what I like on them (that sounds like I'm talking about pizza), because I don't like them to be cheesy or pretentious, but I do actually like this one.

I  also have a few notebooks, because if you know me, you'll know that I love notebooks so much, and I've mentioned before that  write in a journal most days. My favourite notebook brand, Paperblanks, (how pathetic is it that I have a favourite brand of notebooks?) has just released new notebooks, which makes me super excited.
This would be my planner for next year, because I hope to stay a lot more organised in terms of homework, blog posts and just random appointments, and I'm sure this would help me with inspiration.

I'm a big fan of Moet's work, so of course this is right up my alley. I'm actually planning on buying both of these notebooks next time I see them, because even though they can be expensive, I see it as money well spent.

Those are some of the items I'd buy if I was rich, or maybe just not a broke teenager. I hope some of you enjoyed, and I'll be back soon!

NYC - Empire State, Central Park and the Highline // Photography

18:03:00

Hello everyone!

As I'm sure a lot of you are aware, I've spent the last few days in New York City. I loved every minute of it, and I'd love to move there very soon. My class went there on a school trip, and so we went to several museums and a few broadway shows. Therefore, our five days there were packed with activities, which I actually enjoyed.

Anyway, I figured you might want to see some photos from my trip, so here you go!

We went to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, which I both found very interesting, although it would've been more so if I knew any of the history behind it,

A view of the Statue of Liberty from the ferry.

One of the hundreds of photos I took from the top of the Empire State Building. Wow - just wow.

Isn't it gorgeous?

A little tumblr-esque photo my friend took of me.

We visited the New York highline, which I at least, had never heard of. It's basically an old railroad track that has been turned in to an art walk, with modern pieces of art painted everywhere. Definitely something I'd recommend checking out if you're ever in New York!

Honey, I twisted through more damn traffic today

A little artsy shot of the view from the highline.

Times Square! I'm struggling a lot with how to take good photos of bright lights, sunsets and similar scenes, so if anyone has any tips, please let me know!

The architecture at Guggenheim art museum was incredible!

I'm a big fan of Monet's work, and seeing this one, one of my favourites, in real life, left such an impression on me! (Get it? Impressionism, impression, yep that's the extent of my puns).
Central Park rapidly became one of my very favourite places, and I don't usually post photos of myself on here, but I thought I'd post this one.

I think this is one of the photographs I'm the most proud of.

That's all I'm sharing with you today. I do have several hundred more, so if you're interested in seeing more, let me know!

Also, Norway's constitution day is coming up next Sunday, and the celebrations that take place here are rather grand. I was thinking I could do a Get Ready With Me of my national dress, and also talking and showing you all some of my celebrations. If anyone's interested in that, please let me know!

Thirdly and lastly, would you like to see some other blog posts about New York? Outfits, what's in my bag, places to see, etc. I'm very unsure of how interested you all actually are in this trip, whether I should post lots and tell you all about it, or whether I should treat it as a thing of the past.

Have you been travelling lately? Have you ever been to NYC, and if so, what are your opinions on it?
